Did you watch the Grammy's last night? I thought it was great! I love the Grammys, because it covers ALL KINDS OF MUSIC in one forum, and everyone appreciates each other's musical style. Why can't politics operate like that? HA! I don't personally like rap or hip hop,  but I did appreciate the artform for what it was last night.

Wasn't  the tribute to Micheal Jackson incredible!!!!!! Again, I loved the diversity of performers singing in that tribute. Did anyone else wonder who dresses Celine Dion? Ok, that was off-subject....couldn't help it. HA!

The most moving performance to me was by Mary J Blige and Andrea Bocelli......"A Bridge Over Troubled Water",  for the Haiti people. I was fascinated by the emotion that Mary J Blige was conveying, and then how Andrea Bocelli sensed/absorbed her energy and seemed to really become one with her. It was like watching something very divine for me and brought me to tears. Anyone else experience this last night? You can buy this song at www.itunes.com/target It's $1.39, and ofcourse it supports the efforts in Haiti. Share your thoughts & love of music with me!

I didn't watch the Grammy's last night and now wish I had. Darn! I didn't even put the tv on as I got involved in doing a painting.
I did see on tv this AM Michael Jackson's children accepting an award (Humanitarian I believe)and it was very touching and they look like sweet kids. Thanks for the input about the Grammys and sorry I missed it.

no, i didn't see/hear the grammys either, but it's clear YOU were supposed to Barb. ;-)
i'm not fond of rap, hiphop, or jazz that's staccato. i don't like anything that insists you play it loudly or has unintelligible or profane lyrics. don't make my ears bleed.

i like lots of other music/sounds. mostly i'll listen to massage/new age music because you CAN'T sing along with it. ditto classical. i like to feel the music more than participate in it like singing along requires you to do.

i remember one night at a banquet at SIRATA (a wedding ?) the band was realllly good, and the ballroom reverberated...i leaned against the chair rail and 'felt' the music. an amazing experience !! nothing like LIVE ! i do so love to be entertained ! i was probably royalty in another life !

i must say that i have never heard andre boccelli do anything that wasn't flat out wonderful. ditto celine dion. and i'm learning more about mary j blige's worth too. she's in very good company !

i'm also fond of elvis presley's work especially in his later years. and guys like harry connick jr, the righteous brothers, josh grogan (?), johnny cash, and even jimmy buffett.
